Gua sha (pronounced gwah-shaw) massage is a practice derived from traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and involves rolling or scraping a smooth massage tool across the skin, Gua sha. It is is also called scraping, spooning, or coining. This may offer potential health benefits by reducing inflammation, stimulating blood flow, and is sometimes used to help with chronic pain.
Fire Cupping is a form of Traditional Chinese Medicine where heat is added to a glass cup causing a vacuum effect when applied to the skin. The cups may be placed on the body and left in one spot for an amount of time, or moved around on the skin in a gliding motion. This process can help release the muscle tissue called fascia that may be causing pain in common areas such as lower back, shoulders, or that may be causing mobility issues and others.
Tui Na (also called Tui-Na or Tuina massage) is a form of bodywork based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Working along meridians (energy channels) throughout the body, with the use of Tui Na the practitioner is able to tap into these energy points using stretches, pressure points, and joint rotations in order to balance the body’s vital energy (qi).
